Nuclear Medicine Technologists
are valued member of the allied health
community who prepare and administer radioactive pharmaceuticals and
image their distribution in the human body. Unlike X-ray and
Computed
Tomography, the radiation captured by nuclear medicine cameras
originate from within the patient. Nuclear Medicine
Technologists must therefore have specialized training in the
preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
Technologist must also apply knowledge of radiation physics
related to camera operation, computer processing, data reconstruction
and quality control.
